For this coming Sunday, we're continuing to follow the lectionary in Galatians, continuing to work with Paul's themes about unity and equality and the difference between attempting to earn your salvation (using the law) as opposed to finding worth/value/justification 'by grace through faith' and perceiving of discipleship as life of thanksgiving...
yep, a bunch more fancy words...
ok, for one thing: if you want to get something significant "out" of this, you're going to have to put something significant "in" - so there is an appropriateness for fancy words and complex thoughts/ideas/questions.
BUT: how do we make this practical?
Well the real question is: how free are you? and what might you be an unwitting slave into?
I think for the standard "western" "contemporary" Christian we are unwittingly bound into the slavery of 'attachment' - we are too bound up in trying to shape the world and our destiny and unable to allow the beauty of God's plan to open up for us; even, maybe especially when God is trying to give us, or lead us, in something we are quite sure we don't want: but what if that's the only way for us to discover our destiny/happiness???
thoughts?

This Coming Sunday's Scripture
Hey all!
So, this coming Sunday the lectionary passage for our worship service will be Galatians 3:23-29, regarding "JUSTIFICATION" or HOW WE ARE MADE RIGHT with God...AND...what happens as a result.
Paul writes this letter out of his frustration with the contention between the religious authority of the Jerusalem Church and the FREEDOM he experiences spiritually by faith in Christ...
What has made you feel 'right' or connected with God?
Has that happened as a result of religious adherence, non-religious spiritual experiences, or some combo???
prayerfully,
Pastor Rich
